Surprise! It's hydration! But seriously.... are you drinking enough water? Most of us do not. Research shows that up to 75% of us are dehydrated and may not know it. Dehydration can cause a number of symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, lightheadedness, and dull complexion. Sometimes we can also mistaken dehydration for hunger.
Drinking enough water is essential to the every day functions of our bodies. From our metabolism, regulating body temperature, carrying of nutrients, getting rid of toxins, supporting our digestion, supporting the immune system, our mood, everything! So it's important that we intentionally sip throughout the day.

Here are some quick and easy tips to get started on improving your hydration right now :)
Keep a bottle with you at all times
Find a water bottle that works best for you and bring with you everywhere you go. Do you prefer a straw? Great! Motivated by the measurements printed on the side? Awesome! Fill it up and place it on your nightstand so you can see it first thing in the AM. Pack it in your work bag and/or keep one in your car. There are so many ways to keep one by your side throughout the day.
Set reminders to grab some water
Setting a reminders on your phone throughout the day can be helpful to drink more water. For example, set reminders on your phone for every hour to remind you to grab your water!
Infuse your water
Tired of plain water? Add some fruit for flavor! Pick your favorite fruit whether it's fresh or frozen and toss it in.
Sip on herbal teas
Non-caffeinated, herbal teas is another great way to switch things up and count towards your water intake.
Sip and count to 5
This might seem silly but every time you reach for you water, count 5 sips. It doesn't have to be giant gulps of water, but it can help get it in!
How much water should you drink every day? I think it is best to start with half of your body weight in ounces. For example, if you weigh 150lbs then you should drink 75oz. each day. However, if you completed a workout, then you should drink a little bit more. This is to replenish water you lose when you sweat and aid your body in recovery. It is also important. to drink water before, during, and after exercise. Other considerations for needing more water include- pregnancy, breastfeeding, postpartum, warmer weather, and illness.
Yes, making sure you drink enough water every day can seem like a chore or a game at first, but it does become second nature. Keep practicing until it becomes a habit. You will start to realize how much better you feel when you drink more water. It's a bigger game changer than you think! Cheers!
